CVAA is proud to announce the continuation of its Travelling Lecture Series

The one day educational program will be offered to both acute and home care nurses in various cities across Canada.
The goal of the lecture series is to give localized clinicians an overview of best practices in vascular access and infusion therapy.

The following is a potential list of topics to be addressed:

• Differentiating between standards and guidelines and how that applies directly to a nurse's bedside practice and responsibilities
• How to read a clinical study (understand its findings and conclusions, determine whether it's a good or bad study and its applicability to individual or organizational policy and practice)
• Anatomy and physiology review as it relates to vascular access
• The importance of early assessment and what needs to be included in that assessment (medical conditions, pH, osmolarity, diagnosis, etc.)
• Complications of peripheral IVs (phlebitis, infiltration, extravasation,
  etc.)
• Complications of central venous access devices (occlusion, infection, thrombosis, etc.)
• A fee of $75 (CVAA members) or $85 (non-members ) will be charged for the session and includes a continental breakfast, two coffee breaks, and a buffet lunch.
